Perfectly Loved

Rachel said this about her song, “Perfectly Loved.

“This song came about in a time when I was not thinking about doing music again, it was not on my radar. I was at Small Group with my friends, Andrew Ripp and Ethan Hulse, who ended up writing this song with me. We were talking about life, about the 14 year old me. We were talking about how that girl started to believe over time that the more I accomplished, the more I performed, the more success I had, the more worthy of love that I was. I don’t even know if I was fully aware of it at the time, but I was operating from this place of singing FOR love, instead of FROM love. And this song is just about – the opposite of that.

‘Perfectly Loved’ is about how God’s love is so perfect that we don’t have to fight for it, we don’t have to earn it. It is so perfectly and freely given to us no matter how far we run or hide. And it’s so cool to look in hindsight and see how God’s love followed me all the way through and finds me now. And I know there are a lot of people who have thought or believed that at some point in their lives that we still have to do more and more to earn God’s love. But we are made from it. We are made for it. There is nothing we can do to lose it. I hope this song speaks to people in that place. Maybe this is someone’s first chance to even hear about a love that good.”
